Special Needs Trusts

A special needs trust allows property to be held for a disabled person without making the person ineligible for public benefits such as Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Medicaid. Morris Klein is experienced in drafting special needs trusts. He is a member of the Special Needs Alliance, a select group of attorneys who practice in this area.  He is also a board member of the First Maryland Disability Trust, a not-for-profit organization managing funds for persons with disabilities.

Guardianship

A person who is incapable of managing his or her affairs may require court intervention through a “guardianship” to protect the person’s welfare and assets. Morris Klein has experience representing petitioners and subjects in guardianship proceedings. He has previously been appointed by the court to represent subjects of guardianship disputes.  He also has represented a local hospital in guardianship disputes.
